Boris Gibé returns to Prague with a brand-new production, premiering in the Czech Republic at ARENA. Performed in Czech or English.
Anatomie du désir is an unclassifiable object presented in the space of Le Grand Panopticum Anatomique. Through a voyage of senses beginning in total darkness it invites the audience to capture the invisible forces which animate our desire. Through “the Being”, who in a body without outside and inside, in a cosmic body without borders, transgresses the limits of gender, Boris Gibé’s performance dissects the layers of our unconscious and what lies beneath them.
“I would like to offer a new perspective on the anatomical bodies of women who have lived through the ages and carry with them the aesthetic and ethical burdens of their eras. I want to restore the full power of the object of desire, knowledge, and fascination to the deeper mystery that these unique artifacts contain. It is an exploration of the anatomy of our unconscious, which embodies our bodies and connects them to the cosmos. This poetic journey is based on scientific research. The performance opens up reflections on our “first brain” – the abdomen – which determines our sensitivity and emotions, in a dance where the microcosm and macrocosm merge into one.”
