A Romani band that has been winning over audiences for more than a decade. Accordion, vocals and rhythms that won’t let anyone sit still.
Bachtale Apsa – meaning Happy Tears – is one of the best Romani bands in the Czech Republic. The band is led by Mário Bihári, a blind accordionist, pianist and singer who first rose to prominence through his collaboration with Zuzana Navarová in the band KOA.
The band’s repertoire draws on the folk music of Balkan, Hungarian, Romanian and Slovak Roma. It also includes Sinti jazz numbers and classic csárdás, typical of Romani culture across Central Europe. Alongside traditional songs, the band performs original material by Mário Bihári – in recent years, new original songs have naturally found their way into the set.
Outstanding vocals, virtuoso accordion playing and irresistible rhythms make Bachtale Apsa a Romani music classic in the best sense of the word. Expect an evening full of energy, emotion and music that comes straight from the soul.
Performers:
Mário Bihári – accordion, vocals
Petr Horváth – guitar, vocals
Adam Pospíšil – violin, bass
